Fairmount Strings

Fairmount String Quartet

Described as “likable and warmhearted” by the Philadelphia Inquirer and “expert to the point of perfection” by the Chestnut Hill Local, the Fairmount String Quartet has been active in the Philadelphia chamber music scene since 1984.

Dedicated to bringing the intimacy and vitality of chamber music to diverse audiences, the Fairmount String Quartet makes accessibility and education core parts of their mission. They are committed to performing works of historically under-performed composers in addition to works in the standard repertoire. The Fairmount String Quartet delights in collaborating with other artists, including both professional and student instrumentalists, choirs and dancers.

Our musicians will partner with presenters and educators to custom tailor a program appropriate to your audience. We have programs that speak to chamber music enthusiasts, newcomers to classical music, pop music lovers, and educational programs for all ages. All programs include live program notes.

The Fairmount String Quartet is currently in residence at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. Their debut album “Spoken with Strings” is available on all major streaming platforms.
