Weddings – Fairmount Strings

Fairmount Strings has been providing elegant and festive music for wedding ceremonies and receptions for over 30 years. Our unparalleled quality, experience, and professionalism have earned us the privilege of playing at the weddings of musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Saturday Night Live band, Boyz II Men, multiple Grammy winners — and countless music lovers – like you!

Our musicians collaborate seamlessly with officiants, wedding planners, organists, and vocalists to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We will guide you through the process of choosing your music, providing as much or as little direction as you need. If you would like a friend or family member to sing at your wedding, our musicians are happy to collaborate and will put them at ease so they can perform their very best for you.

We offer a number of ensembles to suit a variety of tastes. The string quartet is our most popular and versatile option, offering a full rich sound and a large, diverse repertoire. For weddings in a more intimate setting, a string trio has a lighter sound and a classical repertoire. Duos such as flute/harp or violin/piano are options for spaces equipped for amplification. On the other end of the spectrum, a full orchestra provides a lush sound that is not easily forgotten. Whatever your needs, our ultimate goal is to ensure that your day is everything you’ve dreamed of, and more.

  • Do you take requests?

We are happy to accommodate your requests! Often they become favorites of our current repertoire. Contact us so that we can work through acquiring or arranging your special song. In some cases, additional fees may apply.

  • What is your policy on playing outdoors?

Due to the delicate nature of our instruments, if an engagement is to be outdoors, the area we are in must be dry and well shaded, with temperature between 65 and 85 F. Please be sure to take the proper precautions for outdoor services, as we will not ask our musicians to subject their valuable instruments to conditions that will damage them.

  • What is your dress code?

Ladies wear concert black. Men wear either tuxedo, suit and tie, or all black as the occasion dictates.

  • Do the musicians take breaks?
    • One hour engagement — no break
    • Two hour engagement — One 15 minute break
    • Three hour engagement — Two 15 minute breaks
    • Four hour engagement — Three 20 minute breaks

Please note that breaks will not be taken during wedding ceremonies or religious services.

  • What are your rates?

Please go to our rates page for up-to-date pricing and deposit information.

  • Are you insured?

Fairmount Strings carries a liability insurance policy. We can provide your venue with a certificate of insurance, if needed. If the venue must be listed as an additional insured on our policy, there is a $50 charge.
